This mini collection of earrings is an homage to winter and the shadow cycles of life. Hand fabricated from sterling silver, these unique designs utilize Velvet Rainbow Obsidian and black horse hair. They are a reminder to embrace the natural (healthy) polarities found in nature and within ourselves. When addressed in a healthy way and properly integrated, our shadows can add to our wholeness and power. This collection is a reminder of the importance of embracing change, cycles, and the value of sitting with and understanding our shadows.

Obsidian is known as a protective and truth enhancing stone. It is believed to be a shield against negativity. Horses have acted as a symbol of strength, courage, and freedom throughout time. The idea is that these two materials can work together to offer both transparency, courage, and protection through the vulnerable process of exploring shadow work and the strength to process whatever may arise.

Each pair is named after a "dark" goddess. In Greek mythology, Persephone is the daughter of Demeter who is captured by Hades and brought to the Underworld. He eventually releases her, but because she has eaten the pomegranate seeds in the Underworld, she must live half the year with Hades. She represents balance and the courage to venture into darkness knowing that spring will always come.

How to care for your horse hair earrings: These are best stored hanging so that the hair can stay straight and relaxed. In the instances that they do get waves they can be straightened with a flat iron. Should the silver become tarnished they can be cleaned with a dry jewelry polishing cloth.

This pair of earrings is approximately 8.75" in length from top of hook to base of horse hair.
